I love geographers!  Turns out the fine fellow chairing the Carlington Community Association is a Geography Grad from Carleton and we studied together.  Mark found out about ogWiFi at the Creative Neighbourhoods session at the Hintoburg Community consultation earlier in the year.  I like how you never know the results of an interaction at an info table!

We were slated after the discussion of a park splash pad water feature and rehabilitation project and 2 zoning variations.  The mix of people there were technologically savvy and some who knew very little about technology.  The meeting was held at the very busy Alexander Community Centre right off Shillington street, also known as a rough part of town. Definitely a mixed income neighbourhood with a high concentration at the lower end of the economic spectrum.  A number of interesting wireless business models were discussed and we will see what kind of pilot program they come up with.  It was great to go after the park project which is budgeted at 205K! Heck 200$ for a wireless pilot project sounded like pocket change.

Overall a nice mix of people who are really dedicated to improving their neighbourhoods and are willing to do the day to day hard work to make that happen.
